Lily Monteverde is a Filipino film producer and executive. She was born on August 19, 1938, in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines. She is known as the "Mother of Philippine Cinema" because of her significant contribution to the film industry in the Philippines.
Monteverde started her career in the entertainment industry as an actress in the 1950s. In the 1970s, she became a film producer and founded Regal Films, one of the leading film production companies in the Philippines. Through Regal Films, Monteverde produced more than 300 films that became box office hits and launched the careers of many Filipino actors and directors.
Monteverde has won numerous awards for her contributions to the film industry, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Film Ambassador Award from the Embassy of France, and the Presidential Medal of Merit from the Philippine President, among others.
Monteverde continues to be active in the film industry, producing films and mentoring young filmmakers in the Philippines.
